Support Caregiver Voices on #GivingTuesday

Working daughters need to be seen and heard. Too often the work we do, the care we give, is invisible to others. But if ever there was a group of people too busy to do the advocacy work needed to make positive change – to be heard – it’s us. Family caregivers are too busy providing an estimated $470 billion in unpaid medical support and other services, according to the AARP.

But there are simple steps we can take to move toward more visibility and support for caregivers and #GivingTuesday is a great day to take those steps. Today I will be donating to the American Forum, a nonprofit media service that provides  commentary by local, state and national experts, that help spread progressive voices and viewpoints into the media. It is thanks to the American Forum that my op-ed, The False Choice of Working Daughters, was published in newspapers across the country.

Today, #GivingTuesday, contributions made to American Forum through its #GivingTuesday campaign page will be eligible for a one-to-one match from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which has committed $2 million dollars in matching funds to nonprofits participating through Network for Good. American Forum is eligible for a match of up to $50,000 — and, all donations made today will be processed for free – allowing 100% of your contribution to support American Forum’s program.

DONATE HERE and help raise the voices that need to be heard.
