Pro tip: Shop Costco

This post has been sponsored and brought to you by Kimberly-Clark.

As a busy working daughter living in the sandwich generation, I always hated to run errands. Luckily, my husband didn’t mind, so every week I would give him, not just my shopping list, but my parents’ lists too. And dutifully, he would help me stock up on all the nutrition shakes, denture cleaner, and even Depend Fit-Flex Underwear they needed.

And then one day, for some reason I can no longer remember, I tagged along with him on shopping day. Here’s what I do remember – asking him how he had been keeping the wonder of Costco a secret from me for so many years. I remember buying a pair of cute sneakers, a pair of gorgeous velvet leggings, a delicious butternut squash, some of my favorite shampoo, and yes all of the personal care products my family needed that day. After that visit, I started doing the shopping. Going to Costco was something I wanted to fit into my busy caregiver life.

That’s why, when Kimberly-Clark, the parent company of Depend, Poise, and Cottonelle brands (among others!) asked me to partner in honor of National Family Caregiver Month, I said “absolutely.” My mission at Working Daughter, is to make sure that no one goes through their caregiving experience feeling alone. Sometimes that means providing a safe place to vent– like the Working Daughter private Facebook group. Sometimes it means answering questions about choosing an assisted living facility or nursing home. And sometimes it means sharing tips learned along the journey. And that’s what I want to do now: share the joy of Costco, and the convenience too.

Caregivers are nothing if not pressed for time, and sometimes money. Costco, helps with that. It’s a one-stop shop for a big selection of high-quality products at great value that meet the needs of the people we care for, products like:

  • Depend FIT-FLEX Max Absorbency Underwear for Women and Men, featuring an ideal rise for a tailored fit, an improved waistband for added security and more sizes for all body types
  • Cottonelle FreshCare Flushable Wipes, designed for toilets, tested with plumbers, plastic-free and 100% biodegradable
  • Poise Ultimate Absorbency Pads that provide up to 12 hours of protection for dryness, comfort and order control and help the third of women who experience light bladder leakage.

Nearly 65 million Americans experience bladder leakage in one form or another, and these products provide comfort, protection confidence, and dignity, through innovation and design.

And, Costco offers the best possible prices on quality merchandise, so caregivers don’t just save time shopping there, they save money too. So here’s my helpful caregiver tip: caregiving can be busy, stressful and overwhelming at times. So, the caregiver who learns to streamline her to do list, and find some joy in checking things off that list, is a happy caregiver. So next time your stocking up on personal care products for the people you love, consider Costco, and pick up a little something for you too!

Greetings to you and congrats on your Working Daughters Program. Sorely needed if you find a daughter that has time to review your tips. I live just down the street in Norwood. I re-located from California to take care of my mother. I had 2 brothers, but I was the chosen one. I moved into mom’s home and got her to 97 years, although we were going for 100!!! She’s been gone 5 years now, hard to believe. This subject is so delicate yet essential if you care about a loved one.
There is so much more to share, but I think we all have our stories.
I’ll sign off and wish you the best health and happiness…..Madeline Eysie
